Who’s hiring helicopter pilots in Texas
We pulled every pilot posting from the job boards of the big air medical operators and kept the full-time helicopter roles located in Texas. Counts are as of Oct 31, 2026 and change daily.

Texas helicopter pilot pay by town
GMR builds a geographic modifier into its posted ranges, so remote bases pay more. Big Spring carries a 30% modifier and Beaumont and Jasper 25%, while San Antonio is 5% and Abilene 3% (Global Medical Response careers). The seven West Texas and Panhandle Med-Trans bases all post $125,260–$137,789, the highest in the state. The lowest full-time range, $88,759–$97,635, is Air Evac in Denison and the Mineral Wells base supervisor role.
PHI Health: big sign-on bonuses, no posted salary
All seven PHI Health Texas postings are 7-on/7-off. The VFR roles fly the Bell 407 with NVGs, but PHI still requires a helicopter instrument rating (PHI posting REQ002060 (Richmond, TX)). Richmond and Bay City list sign-on bonuses up to $100,000; the Bay City travel pilot role adds a $20,000 annual travel stipend and off-duty housing. Mt. Pleasant, Columbus and the Burleson IFR check airman list up to $50,000 (PHI Health careers (Workday)). PHI asks for a 1-year service commitment if you need a transition and 2 years if you use relocation. PHI says it operates 213 aircraft and its pilots average 10 years with the company (PHI home page).

Offshore and government flying
Bristow is headquartered in Houston, but on Oct 31, 2026 its job board had no Texas pilot postings; its Gulf offshore captain role is based in Louisiana and runs 5-on/2-off (Bristow posting R-0005633-1). PHI Aviation also hires offshore captains for the Gulf (PHI Aviation careers (Workday)). CBP Air and Marine Operations flies from El Paso, Laredo, McAllen, Uvalde, Alpine, Corpus Christi and San Angelo (CBP AMO operating locations).
What we couldn’t verify
PHI, CareFlite and Bristow don’t publish pilot base pay. Air Methods didn’t list pay on its Snyder, Lockhart and regional relief postings. Texas tour, utility, news and law-enforcement helicopter operators mostly don’t post jobs publicly, so they aren’t counted here. Know an employer we missed? Tell us.
